Let’s go, Eagles! ๐ŸŽ‰

Our HDS Library has been buzzing with activity this week! We have celebrated the beginning of the new year and cold temperatures by:

  • Dancing with snowmen while reading Caralyn Buehner’s Snowmen at Night.

  • Hiking through the snowy forest while meeting a variety of woodland animals along the way in Jan Brett’s beautifully illustrated The Mitten.

  • Helping Annie search for her special mitten in Steven Kellogg’s beloved picture book, The Missing Mitten Mystery.

In Second grade, we started our study of Georgia, its history and all of the wonderful resources our beautiful home state has to offer.

Lastly, our fifth graders have embarked on a new adventure by reading Ray Bradbury's 1954 science fiction short story "All Summer in a Day." This story explores themes of change, hope, and acceptance. To kick off our unit in Junior Great Books, students created sketches and descriptions of their own worlds, highlighting the special people, places, and things that are important to them.

We are continuing our projects from last week. Here are some images of students working on their Paul Klee inspired works.
