September 30th - October 4th

Flag Football

HDS 1: Davis Palmer led the team by scoring two touchdowns - one receiving and one rushing.  Foster Novack scored one rushing touchdown and passed for another; he also intercepted one pass and nearly brought in another.  Also contributing were Langston Jones who snagged an interception and a pass reception, Andrew Broderick who rushed nearly 6 yards per carry, and Carson York, Hattie Willis, and Brinkley McCurry who all secured critical defensive stops.
HDS 2: Faced a few mighty opponents while missing a key player on loan to the Savannah Dawgs. Smith Benton and Ryder Haddick played great games, both having passing and receiving touchdowns. Center Vannah Maree Ziegler found herself open on several plays and capitalized with a touchdown and multiple extra points. Enzo Lopez lifted the defense from QB pressure, resulting in Reagan Canfield’s first interception of the year.
HDS 3: Had a good game tonight against SCPS and we won 33-25. QB Archer Oliff led the way with 2 TD passes (one to Rhett Matthews and one to Virginia Moody), 1 running TD, and a pick 6.   The entire team played hard and had a lot of fun.

It has been great to see PreK-1st grade’s finish their projects this week. They practiced making different types of polka dot patterns with black paint and circle sponges on construction paper before finally going for it on their peach. There were so many steps to this project and the kids have been excited about it the whole way through and it shows. 2nd-5th grade finished up their scratch art pieces and did a great job at utilizing line to create some colorful palm trees and pineapples. Next, they are beginning new projects inspired by the fall season. 2nd-4th grade started their new projects this week featuring an owl or squirrel and will be using found leaves to incorporate into them. They have many steps and materials to use so they will be busy the next couple weeks. 5th grade is collaborating to help design and create Homecoming and fall sports banners and signs these next two weeks. Below are some examples of what we finished:

This is an exciting time of year when we fall back into existing routines or develop new ones. As your family navigates going back to school, remember that it’s just as important to build in downtime into your schedule. Allow you and your student to have the time to reflect and rejuvenate!
