Football:
Hancock Varsity had an impressive win last night 30-0 over Blessed Sacrament. The defense pitched a shutout and was led by outside linebackers Nick Nowell and Tate Wilson. Coleman Zeigler recovered a BSS fumble in the endzone for a touchdown. The offense scored three TD’s with one from Charlie Albert and two from Gage Hart and led by a very physical offensive line anchored by Tyler Jones. And a special thanks to Mr. Jack Cargile for doing a wonderful job on the public address system for our football games. Mr. Cargile was asked to announce a Savannah state game recently!

We are continuing to work on and complete our Savannah/Georgia projects this week. PreK-1st grade has been doing a wonderful job using a repeating shape to create a pattern for their backgrounds. Kindergarten and 1st grade have also been taking their time to do their best cutting and fine-lining (tracing) with Sharpie markers. Next week they will finish with creating balanced polka dot patterns on their peaches in the style of Yayoi Kusama. 2nd-5th grade have started their scratch art pieces depicting a palm tree and pineapple design of their choosing. We’ve talked about how the lines we create with this type of mark making is actually the inverse of how we may normally draw with a pencil. Stressing the importance of this idea and planning intentional lines has given the students a better understanding of how to execute their design the best. All of the practice leading up to this has really paid off.
This is an exciting time of year when we fall back into existing routines or develop new ones. As your family navigates going back to school, remember that it’s just as important to build in downtime into your schedule. Allow you and your student to have the time to reflect and rejuvenate!
