Important Dates to Remember:


  • May 2nd - Field Day Pep Rally - Wear your Field Day t-shirt to school!

  • May 3rd—Field Day! Please refer to the information sent from classroom teachers regarding the schedule and expectations for the day. No after-school care.

  • May 8th - All School Assembly! No PE Uniforms (changed from 5/1)

  • May 10th - Spring Concert for grades 1-4. Begins at 9 am. Doors open at 8:30.

  • May 13th - Book Fair

  • May 23rd - PreK “Graduation” - 9 am, Hancock Hall, Parents Only. Doors open at 8:30 am. Last day for PreK.

  • May 24th - Kindergarten Graduation - 9 am, Gym. Doors open at 8:30 am.

  • May 25th - 5th Grade Graduation - 10:30 am, Gym. Doors open at 10 am.

  • May 25th - Last Day of School for K-5. Half day for students in grades 1-4. No after-school care.




THERE WILL BE AN E. SHAVER BOOK FAIR FROM MAY 13-17.  COME BUY SUMMER READING BOOKS!!!



HDS Sports Update April 23


BASEBALL - heads to the championship next Tuesday at 5 pm on Paulson field after beating the #1 seed SCPS 4-3! Walker York came up big with a clutch hits ( 2 RBIs)

Elliot Ziegler’s pitching mowed down hitter after hitter, with Carter Allen finishing the game in a great relief performance!

“PACK THE PAULY” 5 pm Tuesday, April 30th - Any student that comes to the game before 5:05 pm gets a free raffle ticket and a chance to win a “Gift Card” to Dicks Sporting Goods Store*** BUT YOU MUST WEAR HANCOCK GEAR to the Game and stay until the end of the game to be eligible!!!


TRACK - HDS hosted an amazing SPAL Championship meet on Tuesday. Several of our athletes either won and/or broke HDS records!

  • Lena Anne Smith - High Jump, Long Jump, Discus, and Shot Put (Lena Anne broke every record for events she entered this year!)

  • Finn Summerell - Shot Put and Discus

  • Wilks Ward - Discus

  • Ansley Pedigo - 800M

  • Noland Taylor - 200m

  • Stewart Dunn - 100 and 400m

(Relays aren't in yet)


GOLF - Boys' team defeats Savannah Christian but falls to Coastal!

Carson, Bay, and Hudson all had rounds in the 40’s but it wasn't quite good enough to beat the homeschool team! The girls' team was led by Couper Howard who shot a 51


SOCCER - defeated BSS 5-0 with goals by Jackson and Griffin Roberts, Hudson Broderick, and 2 by Ryder Goodman! The number two seed HDS team will play in the SPAL Semi-Final game this Monday at 6:15 at the HDS field on the BC campus. HDS will play the winner of the SJS and CDS.

All students who come to the game and wear HDS shirts will be given a raffle ticket and a chance to win Gift Card to Dicks Sporting Goods.


FISHING TOURNAMENT

New date May 10th and 11th *see emailed date 4/26/24 from Coach Bellairs for more information


SUMMER CAMPS HDS Basketball And Volleyball camps are open to kids/friends from other schools as long as they are accompanied by a HDS student that week!



We are SO busy in the library.  PreK read books about the Three Billy Goats Gruff and built bridges. Kindergarten and first grade loved building their houses to blow down with the BIG BAD BLOW DRYER!!  Second grade is enjoying my favorite book, Sideways Stories from Wayside School.  In 3rd and 4th grades we are reading and then watching Anne of Green Gables.  In 5th grade, we are RESEARCHING!! I am going to miss your children!
