September 18th - September 22nd
It was great to see so many of you come out for our rescheduled Back to School Night! I know it might have been a challenge to rearrange schedules and to find parking! I appreciate your flexibility and your commitment to your child’s education and to HDS!
I will be hosting a Back to School Parent Coffee on Friday, September 29th at 8:30 a.m. in Hancock Hall. I will give a brief presentation about the “State of the School” and provide some time for fellowship with one another.
Spirit Week was also amazing! I had the greatest time walking around school and seeing the “spirit” all around me. Thank you to Cindy Drew for all of her amazing planning for this week of fabulous events.
After an alert from the local authorities, we placed the school on a soft lockdown on Thursday morning. We were kept aware of the progress of the investigation and when the threat had left the immediate area of the school, we chose to remain on high alert for the remainder of the day. Students were kept indoors with the exception of carefully supervised transitions to lunch and to our Pep Rally, maintaining a safe and calm environment for our students and our faculty. We canceled our 5th Grade Safety Patrol and students were dismissed by faculty to ensure an additional layer of security.
THE LIBRARY IS OPEN!!!!! The children love it. Thank you so much to all of the parents who helped pack and donated to this huge endeavor. The regular blog will start next week. Thanks again!!!!
