Virtue of the month: RESPECT

This week, I began my read alouds with each grade level. We look at respect as “honoring oneself and those around you.” I will read Do Unto Otters as Otters Do Unto You by Laurie Keller and/or Spaghetti on a Hot Dog Bun by Maria Dismody (PK-1) and/or The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi (2-5). With lots of exciting events at school, some grade levels may not be able to schedule a read aloud, but will have access to the books for classroom discussion.

Our Primary School students celebrated Dr. Seuss on Wednesday. PreK students dressed up as different characters. Our 5th graders had the opportunity to read to and play games with students in PreK through 2nd grade. There was a lot of laughter around the school.

Our Science lab also acquired a hen! We are eagerly awaiting the chicks to hatch!

I didn’t want to disturb our hen as she was keeping her eggs warm! Sorry for the wonky picture!

We had a GREAT time celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday this week.  The 5th Graders were FABULOUS teachers and readers.  Our Primary students enjoyed ALL of the activities that they planned.  Fourth graders learned how to write a bibliography and put it in ABC order.  We did this together so they could understand the process.  Finally, Third graders read “The Lorax”, and we discussed its underlying message.
