February 6th - February 10th
Puxatawny Phil may have seen his shadow predicting 6 more weeks of winter, but is sure has felt like spring around here! This week’s weather was all over the place; however, we were fortunate to have enough sunshine in the sky to enjoy recess outside!
As we rounded out January, fifth graders were busy working on math projects where they combined their building skills with their mathematical problem solving to determine the volume of their 3-D creations. A PreK student had an unusual show and share, two goats from his family farm. It was so fun to see the children interact with the animals! I even got up close and personal with one of them!
On Friday, we welcomed —--, an ATC Singer, who performed for our students in 3rd through 8th grade.
With February upon us, we’ve started to focus on our new virtue, Empathy. I was able to meet with some grade levels this week and hope to catch up with the rest of the students next week. After the reading, I engaged in a brief discussion to discuss empathy, what it means, and what it looks like. Students were given the idea that empathy is much like “putting yourself in someone else’s shoes.
