“A slice of nice makes a mile of smile!”
To kick off the virtue of the month, KINDNESS, I met with students and teachers by grade level, formally introduced myself, and read aloud. For grades PK-3, I read Kindness is Cooler, Mrs. Ruler by Margery Cuyler. For 4th and 5th grades, I read a chapter, Choose Kind, from the book Wonder by P.J. Palacio. After I read, the groups brainstormed some ways that they could be kind to others in the Hancock Day community. Each building has a “Kindness Tree” where students and teachers can place leaves on the tree that highlights an act of kindness here at school. I am sure that we will have full, green trees in no time!
Here is a link to a read aloud of the book Kindness is Cooler, Mrs. Ruler in case you were interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPO7P1gHAmo .
