COVID-19 Fatigue

ONE YEAR AGO THIS WEEK terms like remote learning, social distancing, and Zoom first became parts of our daily vocabulary. The last year has felt like both an eternity and millisecond depending on the day.

I know I am not the only one who is tired of COVID-19 and the impact that it has had on daily life, including our work here at school. Every time you receive a COVID-19 email from us, know that there is a dedicated team working behind the scenes to contact trace, plan for remote learning, field medical questions, book substitute teachers, organize student materials, move lunches, oversee technology, sanitize spaces, and more.

We could make a list of all the things we have lost over the past year -- sleep, special events, and time with loved ones would be at the top for many of us. But if we are being completely honest, we could also admit that we have gained some things, too. A greater appreciation for our health, a deeper sense of being present where we are, and renewed resilience for the future could all be at the top of that list.

As we approach the end of this year, the part that we did not get to have in person last year, know that COVID-19 is still very real and present in our community. More and more of us are becoming fully vaccinated each day, but we are still hearing of new exposures almost every day, too. We will continue to consult with our medical team and follow their guidelines. As soon as we are able to make changes, we will notify you. We know that you are eager for a return to normalcy, and we are too, but the health of our community continues to be of the utmost importance. As always, thank you for your continued support.

Outerwear & Shoes

Our dress code allows students to wear non uniform outerwear from their car to the building and outside for recess, but non uniform outerwear is not allowed to be worn inside of our classrooms. Please keep this in mind as your child gets dressed for school each day.

Also, remember that primary and lower school students are to wear black, white, or grey athletic shoes.

Signing Children Out of Extended

Please support our extended teachers by making sure to officially sign your child out at the end of each day. A parent’s signature and/or verbal verification with the adult in charge is required.

Did You Know…

The Excellence Fund supported the purchase of new drums in our music room. See below for some photographs of these instruments in action.
