February 8th - February 12th
Cool Down Period
With the adoption of a shorter quarantine period, please remember that we have activated a “cool down” period for students and faculty members returning from quarantine. Details for this were outlined in a previous email, but see below for a recap.
All students and adults returning from quarantine should continue to check in with one of our school nurses prior to returning to class.
All students and adults returning from quarantine will not have unmasked exposure to others until a full 14 days have passed. In order to achieve this, individuals returning from quarantine will eat snacks and lunch in a separate, socially-distanced space, and they will also be required to wear their masks for outdoor play/recess.
Important Dates
We realize that early dismissal days and student holidays can create challenges for working parents. To help your family plan ahead, I’ve highlighted below a few upcoming irregular dates -
Friday, February 12th - Early Dismissal/ No Extended (11:45 green gate, 12:00 gold gate, 12:15 white gate)
Monday, February 15th - Student Holiday - Presidents’ Day
Tuesday, February 16th - Student Holiday - Teacher Workday
Friday, March 5th - Student Holiday - Parent/Teacher Conferences
Signing Children Out of Extended
Please support our extended teachers by making sure to officially sign your child out at the end of each day. A parent’s signature and/or verbal verification with the adult in charge is required.
Masking on Campus
Remember that masks are required if you are on campus and out of your vehicle for any reason. This is especially important when you are signing your child in/out. We rely on all of the adults on campus to model appropriate mask wearing for our students, and we want to ensure that everyone stays well.
March Lunch Sign Up Is Open
The deadline to sign up for March lunches will be Friday, February 19th.
Admissions & Reenrollment
Re-enrollment contracts were sent electronically on Monday, January 25th. The entire process can be completed online in about fifteen minutes, and we really appreciate all of the families that have already taken the time to finalize their enrollment for next year. We are filling up quickly!
If your family has decided not to re-enroll for next year, please share that information with Cindy Drew at your earliest convenience so that we can plan accordingly.
Did You Know…
This week was National School Counseling Week! Allison Maher, our wonderful school counselor, works behind the scenes to support students across all grade levels. She visits classrooms to teach mini lessons and lead discussions, meets with individual students and small groups, and compiles resources for our faculty to assist them in character education lessons as well as sharing our virtue of the month. This is Mrs. Maher’s second year at Hancock Day School, and prior to working here she spent six years at Savannah Classical Academy. We love Mrs. Maher and are so thankful to have her here at HDS!
