August 24th - August 28th
THANK YOU to our families, faculty, and staff for a fantastic first week!
While it may be harder to see the smiles on our faces, I hope you know how happy we are to have students back on our campus. It’s been 157 long days since we last had students in our classrooms, and we are committed to working together so that we can continue to learn and grow on campus.
Masks
As stated previously, masks should be appropriately fitted and cover both the nose and the mouth. Recent studies have shown that multilayer fabric masks are more effective than single layer versions. Selecting the best mask for your child is a personal choice as you have to consider the shape and size of your child’s face and ears. Our nurses and teachers are working to help students who experience challenges with the fit of their mask. While we do have child-sized disposable masks available as needed, we also encourage you to send in a spare mask for your child to keep in his/her classroom.
If you are still on the hunt for additional mask options for your child, we have noticed that Old Navy, Target, and Zulily are all selling multilayer fabric masks for children that fit many of our students well. Masks with adjustable ear loops can be useful for very young children with smaller faces.
Back to School Night
Our teachers look forward to introducing themselves to you and sharing highlights from their classes on our upcoming back to school night, Wednesday, August 26th. Since we cannot gather together on campus, our Back to School Night will take place virtually. Teachers will post videos of themselves in Google Classroom and/or an email and share them by 5pm on Wednesday. We encourage families to gather together to watch these videos, so primary and lower school teachers will not be assigning any homework on Wednesday, August 26th.
Did You Know…
Our Social Studies program is a comprehensive approach to world and American history and geography with a cross-curricular component that integrates topics like civics and the arts. This year you may notice that a few concepts have moved from one grade level to another, but know that these changes are intentional as we work to share more world history and geography with our students from an earlier age. We have adopted a new book series that we will use school-wide (Kindergarten through fifth grade) to help students expand their understanding and knowledge in these areas.
We are looking forward to sharing more about all of our content areas at our upcoming Back to School Night.
